Built in New Zealand by Michael Fay, Tom Clark and Tim Gurr’s ‘Southern Pacific Yachts’, and launched in the mid 1980’s as ‘SPY 102’ this design was one of Ron Holland Design’s first 100 foot plus sailing yachts. Under new ownership (her original owner Tom Taylor had extensively cruised and raced ‘Gleam’ as he named her). Renamed Avalon, RHD was commissioned by her new owners Mark and Jenean Cerami to design a completely new interior to their personal requirements.
The original interior was stripped back to the bare aluminium hull and the new teak interior with decoration by Jenean Cerami was outfitted at McMullan and Wing in New Zealand during Avalon’s second circumnavigation.
Avalon’s new interior integrates elements of traditional ‘sailing yacht detailing’ with more contemporary decoration elements.
